I Hate Family Guy / I Love Margaret Cho

Today has been a really good day for the Comedy Network. Technically yesterday, but until I go to sleep, it's still Saturday.

When I went over to Pat's today, he was watching Dane Cook on the Comedy Network. After Dane Cook (and a few episodes of Psych), it was Chris Rock. Then (and now, since it's been playing all night), Margaret Cho. I like her. She's funny, but she's also all about what I care about: gays and fat chicks. Kidding. She is a gay icon, though. What prompted me to blog about her was her little speech about "the ridiculous societal pressure for all women to be see-through" (I'm paraphrasing). (Technically, the only part of that she actually said was "women" and "societal" -- well, "society").

I'm chubby. Always have been. But it's taken me an insane amount of time to be okay with that. I really like famous/prominent women who advocate not being sickly thin. I should throw in a disclaimer about here: Your weight doesn't matter and it rocks when celebrities endorse that. That means I have nothing against skinny people.

I won't bore you all with tales of my sad, sad teenhood of insecurity. Instead, I'll just say that Margaret Cho is hilarious.

As for Family Guy, I fucking hate it. Everyone seems to love that show. And everyone looks at me like I just announced my candidacy for a spot in the Galactic Senate when I say "I fucking hate that show!"

Most people don't really care why I hate the show, but I have been asked once or twice why I have such a problem with it. I just don't think it's funny. I think it's retarded; "entertainment" for the lowest common denominator. That and the voices are goddamn annoying. is like that annoying acquaintance that has the worst timing and never seems to let jokes go. If the phrase "beating a dead horse with a stick" hadn't already been invented, then Family Guy would have prompted its inception.

I don't really have a long list of reasons why Family Guy is a tonne of bullshit, I just know it is. It's my opinion. Don't you just love it?

You know what I love? The fact that the weather's getting cooler! It was only 13 degrees today (Celsius -- 55 Fahrenheit)! Finally, I can go back to my normal clothes. Somehow, my natural body temperature is closer to 100 than 98.6. Or at least that's how it feels. I'm always way too warm, so in the summer, when it's unbelievably hot out, I can't survive in t-shirts. I have to wear tank tops and whatnot (which I don't exactly hate). But now that it's getting cooler, I can go back to t-shirts, jeans, and hoodies! I'm thrilled. Especially since that means I can wear my Something Corporate hoodie now. Yay!
